October Favourites

In a blur of cool air and pumpkin spice everything (seriously, I bought a PS Bailey’s for Christmas weeks ago!) October is gone and seasonal festivities are creeping up on us.

Today I’m sharing my favourites of the beginnings of autumn, and looking forward to the month ahead.

Body Shop Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution

The Body Shop Tea Tree Solution

Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution

Everyone struggles with problem prone skin in their lives and unfortunately for me, and many others, it doesn’t stop as soon as you hit adulthood. The Body Shop have regenerated their tea tree range with the #ZitHappens campaign and this serum-like lightweight solution caught my attention. It works as a preventative product and has really improved the condition of my skin, making it clearer and reducing redness! Find it online here.

The majority of my university friends live in and around the Greater Manchester area, which means they’re accessible but not as often as I would ideally like!

So I booked the sofa in my friend’s flat and spent two days surrounded by good food, cocktails and the infectious positivity of amazing friends. It was the perfect opportunity to remove myself from the constrains of my own mind and spend time with people I love.

Earlier in the month I visited Sarah in London. As well as getting to spend time with my sister and enjoy a high-speed train ride through the countryside (I like trains), I got to explore little pockets of London by myself. I ended up at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design. I happily lost myself in there for some hours and landed myself a delicious curry for lunch. If you get chance to visit, their stained glass collection is stunning.

The courtyard played host to an Engineering Season exhibition called Elytra, described as a responsive shelter inspired by the naturally lightweight shells of the flying beetle. Sensors mapped the areas visitors congregated in, ultimately affecting how and where the canopy structure would be robotically woven. I sat on the edge for about twenty minutes in the hope my own presence would stretch the structure further!

August Face Favourites

Faded selfie, favourites post, beauty

Happy Bank Holiday!

I believe all women are pretty without makeup. And pretty powerful with the right makeup.” Bobbi Brown

I am currently experiencing an absolute ‘mare with my skin. It’s the worst. So trying out new makeup is having the twin benefits of making me feel more confident and hiding the atrocity.
Here are my current favourites, which accidentally fell off shelves and into my hand. It would be rude not to, right?!

beauty, makeup, photography,

NYX Dark Circle Concealer
– this little pot is a wonder for my hereditary dark set eyes. It contains moisturising coconut oil and is tinged yellow/orange to offset blue under eye hues. Just a little touch patted into place immediately brightens.

NYX Vivid Brights liquid eyeliner in Sapphire
– I bought this to practice for a fancy dress make-up. Although bright colours on eyes look amazing, I’ve never believed myself to hold the confidence to wear it. However I’ve fallen for this. It’s quite wet but easy to apply and once dry lasts really well without weighing down delicate eyelids. Use an eyelid primer underneath for extra skin protection and staying power. I’m currently using Benefit Air Patrol.

Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara in brown/black
– Award winning bestseller and possibly the nation’s favourite. Definitely my favourite. When I last bought it I accidentally picked up the brown/black rather than the plain black but I quite like the the more natural-esque look.

Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in Gold Light
– I had this on my mental wish list for some time and finally treated myself to it. I love the subtle shimmer to cheek and brow bones and the golden tones mixed with my hair makes me feel like a queen!

Benefit Gimme Brow in light/medium
(similar new version linked) – I have a really mixed relationship with this. The tinted fibres adhere to easily to your natural brows. But they have to be shaped how you want before, otherwise the extra fibres can make them seem straggly. Coming from a near Liverpool, a city famous for it’s brows, I’m really trying to make an effort with mine. But when they’re en pointe, they are fierce! Current fave brow: leftie.

Which products are going to end up as your August empties?

Catch you later 😚

We all go through those stages of favouring things. They can change daily or weekly and the rare few last for years. Personally, I have mini obsessions, where I will listen to, say, the same music for weeks and then move on.

Today I thought I would share with you  my current favourite music, and a couple of make up products…

I am addicted to these songs at the moment, it’s all I’m listening too.

Favourite BB Cream, MUA colour correcting powder and MAC mascara for simple makeup days

New Barry M quick dry nail varnishes are fantastic! I love these pastel grey and blue

Apparently I am addicted to pink toiletries too…
