August Face Favourites

Faded selfie, favourites post, beauty

Happy Bank Holiday!

I believe all women are pretty without makeup. And pretty powerful with the right makeup.” Bobbi Brown

I am currently experiencing an absolute ‘mare with my skin. It’s the worst. So trying out new makeup is having the twin benefits of making me feel more confident and hiding the atrocity.
Here are my current favourites, which accidentally fell off shelves and into my hand. It would be rude not to, right?!

beauty, makeup, photography,

NYX Dark Circle Concealer
– this little pot is a wonder for my hereditary dark set eyes. It contains moisturising coconut oil and is tinged yellow/orange to offset blue under eye hues. Just a little touch patted into place immediately brightens.

NYX Vivid Brights liquid eyeliner in Sapphire
– I bought this to practice for a fancy dress make-up. Although bright colours on eyes look amazing, I’ve never believed myself to hold the confidence to wear it. However I’ve fallen for this. It’s quite wet but easy to apply and once dry lasts really well without weighing down delicate eyelids. Use an eyelid primer underneath for extra skin protection and staying power. I’m currently using Benefit Air Patrol.

Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara in brown/black
– Award winning bestseller and possibly the nation’s favourite. Definitely my favourite. When I last bought it I accidentally picked up the brown/black rather than the plain black but I quite like the the more natural-esque look.

Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in Gold Light
– I had this on my mental wish list for some time and finally treated myself to it. I love the subtle shimmer to cheek and brow bones and the golden tones mixed with my hair makes me feel like a queen!

Benefit Gimme Brow in light/medium
(similar new version linked) – I have a really mixed relationship with this. The tinted fibres adhere to easily to your natural brows. But they have to be shaped how you want before, otherwise the extra fibres can make them seem straggly. Coming from a near Liverpool, a city famous for it’s brows, I’m really trying to make an effort with mine. But when they’re en pointe, they are fierce! Current fave brow: leftie.

Which products are going to end up as your August empties?

Catch you later 😚

Benefit Beauty Favourites

If you follow Benefit Cosmetics on Instagram, like me you too often lust after the beautifully packaged products while my student pockets cry in agony.

The perfect arrangements appeal to my tidiness.

But every once in a while (birthday, extra holiday money, student loan day) I invest in one little piece.
The great thing about high end products like Benefit is, although you pay that but extra, you definitely pay for quality.

Benefit Babies

Roller Lash is the best mascara I’ve ever used, properly curling my lashes the use of a lash curler, a contraption I’ve always seen as a little bit torturous.

They’re Real Push Up Liner takes a fair few practices to get the hang of, but once you do it’s staying power is like no other. I’m yet to master a great cat eye wing, but I’m working on it.

My POREfessional is a mini tester version, just to see if I liked it before The Great Investment. I wasn’t expecting a lot to be honest, but knock me down I’ve grown to love it! Perfect for those pesky nose pores that always look awful beneath my glasses.

My most recent purchase is the Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer which has been a godsend with my skin recently. Can be used really sparingly because a little goes such a long way, and has let me actually leave the house recently.

If you’re thinking of investing high end, I’d definitely recommend Benefit, especially for key investment make up looks like these!

In other news, you can also find me at Bizarre Behaviour, where I’m writing more about psychology-related content. Please bare with the blog refurbishments happening over there, though!
Cheers!
